Math in Focus (Marshall Cavendish, 2013)
The Singapore Approach
The Math in Focus program is a rigorous and challenging comprehensive curriculum for grades 6 through 8. The program follows the pedagogical framework developed by the Singapore Ministry of Education: emphasizing concept mastery, a concrete-visual-symbolic approach, metacognitive reasoning, and the use of model drawing to solve and justify problems. It supports the Common Core State Standards. In fact, the writers of the Common Core State Standards used the Math in Focus curriculum as a model.
Course 3 (8th grade) Units include: Real Numbers & Expressions, Algebraic Expressions, Algebraic Equations, Functions, Geometry, and Statistics & Probability.
